What do you think of when I say the word,
                       Genesis?

Beginning?
A book of the Bible?
A part of the Torah?

Whether it's a familiar term or not, filmmaker and rabbi, Nolan Lebovitz presents Roadmap Genesis, a documentary showcasing how the book of Genesis truly is a road map that is relevant and needed in our society today to help guide, teach and produce strong family values. Lebovitz interviews those of the Jewish faith as well as Christian, to make his case for the book of Genesis. I personally enjoyed hearing from Mike Huckabee. The more I heard him speak about family values, Biblical principles and especially his support for the nation of Israel, the more excited I became that he might be a presidential candidate. I know that he hasn't made it official yet but after learning more about him through his interviews in this documentary, I'm leaning more and more towards placing my support behind him, if he runs. Another personal favorite of mine interviewed was Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis. I appreciate this man's heart to teach about Creation and the ministry he has. Others interviews include Rabbi David Wolpe, Alan Dershowitz and Erick Stakelbeck.

What I Liked

Well, this documentary was presented by an experienced filmmaker, and you can tell. I liked his quirky style and random clips and scenes inserted throughout the film to bring some humor to the table. I appreciated his passion for the book of Genesis and his desire for our country to grab a hold of depth and richness found in the historical accounts of our patriarchs of the faith.

Other Thoughts

Presently, my third grader is studying Genesis in his history lessons along side Ancient Egypt. He has gained so much knowledge of this book of the Bible through these lessons and it has given him a great foundation. Genesis is the foundation and an important tool, road map, and guidebook to begin with. I appreciate the message of this documentary even though as a Christian I don't stop teaching my children at the end of Genesis or even at the end of the Old Testament.
I wonder though, is Lebovitz going to stop at Genesis or will there be more to come? Maybe a documentary about the book of Exodus? Hmmm...
